WHO IS BEHIND IT?
INITIATOR.
My name is Rebecca Panian. I am a filmmaker and unconditional basic income activist.
The idea for “COMMON SENSE OF 12” was inspired by my feature film project LOTTERY, a dystopian satire about 12 people from all over the world who have to work together to find a solution to overpopulation because humanity has simply ignored climate change for too long.
In 2023, I performed an improv exercise as research for LOTTERY in three cities: Zurich (mixed group), London (women only) and Basel (women only).
I was hoping for exciting discussions with many opposing points of view. What I didn't expect was that all groups would be able to agree in less than 90 minutes and that everyone would find the same solutions!
This made a lasting impression on me and I asked myself: what if 12 people - randomly selected - were tasked with finding solutions to problems that probably concern a majority of people?
Et voilà - COMMON SENSE OF 12 was born.
